“For the first time ever, the new Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package delivers 35-inch tires straight from the factory,” Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America, said in a press release. “We have been listening to and watching our customers make this one of the most popular modifications to their Wranglers, and now we will deliver this exciting new package, along with an industry-first 100:1 crawl ratio, off the showroom floor at our Jeep dealerships.”

What will Adding the Xtreme Recon Package Do?

A Jeep Wrangler with the Xtreme Recon package (Rubicon 4-door models only), will exhibit vastly different geometry when attacking obstacles. In addition to having 32.7 cm (12.9 in.) of ground clearance, the vehicle will also be able to ford 85.3 cm (33.6 in.) of water. Take a look at the table below to see the differences in approach, breakover, and departure angles:

Extreme Recon Pack. Std. 4-Door Rubicon
  Approach Angle   47.4° 43.9°
  Breakover Angle   26.7° 22.6°
  Departure Angle   40.4° 37.0°

Experienced off-road drivers know that a vehicle’s axle ratio can make all the difference when it comes to climbing over stumps, rocks or other obstacles. A Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (4-door) with the Jeep six-speed manual transmission will have a 4.88:1 ratio – though the option will be available later in the production schedule. Additionally, the new axle ratio can deliver a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio.
